Jean Carlson formerly of Akron, Iowa, died March 16, 2017, in Bellevue, Neb.

Funeral services were Monday, March 20, 2017 at the Hurley United Methodist Church in Hurley, S.D. Reverend Iva Laudermith officiated. Burial followed in the Hurley Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com.

Muriel Jean Carlson was born November 5, 1929 in Chamberlain, S.D., the daughter of Fred and Millie (Rundell) Kies. The family moved in South Dakota from Reliance to Hurley in 1939.

After graduating as valedictorian from Hurley High School in 1947, she and her sister, Lorine, attended South Dakota State College in Brookings, S.D. There she met her husband, Dennis C. Carlson and earned an Associate

    Jeff Merrigan of Worthington, MN, brother of Virginia Hartmann, Liz, Jim, and Stanley Merrigan, died March 17, 2017.

    Services for Jeff will be held Thursday, March 23 at St. Mary's Parish in Worthington. Jeff was much loved by family and friends and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

    Robert “Hap” Rolfes of Marshalltown, Iowa was born to Frank and Ida Rolfes on September 18, 1931 in Le Mars, Iowa. He graduated from Liberty Consolidated School in 1950. He served in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1956, with tours in Japan and Korea. He was released from Active Duty in 1956 with an honorable discharge.     She is survived by her daughters Sherri (Harry "PeeWee" Kincaid) McKee of Akron, and Joni (special friend John Huber) Noble of Akron; grandchildren Nicholas (Kristal) McKee, Jesse (Melissa) McKee, Erica (Scott Moore) Kjar, Annie Kjar, Allison Kjar and Eliza Kjar; great-grandchildren Daynen, Reegan, Hudson, Ryland, Waylon and Nola McKee.

    Preceding her in death were her parents Joseph and Dorothy (Funkhouser) Nickolisen, one sister Joyce Nickolisen and one brother Bernard Nickolisen.
