Lavonne Klemme of Hawarden, Iowa, formerly of Akron, Iowa, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2016, at Hillcrest Health Care Center in Hawarden.

A Memorial Service will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 19 at Brule Creek Lutheran Church in rural Elk Point, South Dakota, with Pastor Steve Martens officiating. A visitation with the family present will be from 9:30 a.m. until the start of the service at the church. Burial will be at Brule Creek Lutheran Cemetery in rural Elk Point, South Dakota.     Pamela J. Schuetz was born on September 25, 1943 in Coalgate, Okla. to Dorothy “Maxine” Wilcox and J.C. Guinn. She spent most of her childhood in Akron, Iowa living with Maxine and her stepfather, Floyd and her siblings. Pam graduated from Akron High School in 1961. Pam spent the last 25 years living in Ruidoso, New Mexico. She passed away in Amarillo, Texas on August 8, 2016 after a lengthy battle with dementia. Services were held on August 12, 2016 at Brooks Funeral Chapel.

    On the morning of Aug. 3, 2016, a 93-year love affair with life ended when Pat Johnson left this earth. Memorial services were Tuesday, Aug. 9 at the First United Methodist Church in Vermillion, S.D.

    He was born March 19, 1923 on a farm southeast of Akron, Iowa, about a mile from the Ruble store. Pat was the youngest child with three older sisters in a family of farmers. This was prophetic as farming was one of Pat’s main passions.

    Dennis “Denny” Patrick Welch, 77

    Dennis “Denny” Patrick Welch of Shorewood, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Illinois.

    Denny was born on December 12, 1938, at the home of his parents, Raymond and Elizabeth (Namel) Welch in rural Westfield, Iowa. He graduated from Westfield High School in 1957. Dennis retired from the E.J.&E. Railroad in Joliet, Illinois in 2001 after 43 years of service.
