Loraine ‘Lori’ Koplin Hoffman, 91

Loraine Hoffman went to be with our Heavenly Father June 8, 2016. Services were held on Saturday, June 11, 2016, in the Chapel of Osborn Funeral Home in Shreveport, La. Interment followed at Forest Park Cemetery in Shreveport.

Loraine was born in Akron, Iowa April 7, 1925. A farmer’s daughter, and one of six children, she was raised on the family homesteaded land near Spink Township, S.D. where many memorable and bountiful family gatherings were held over the years.

Lori met her beloved husband Warren Louis Hoffman in Chicago, Ill. through mutual family members during WWII while he was on leave from the Army Air Corps. Judging from the amount of letters to her, he must have written almost every day and they

    Pamela J. Schuetz was born on September 25, 1943 in Coalgate, Okla. to Dorothy “Maxine” Wilcox and J.C. Guinn. She spent most of her childhood in Akron, Iowa living with Maxine and her stepfather, Floyd and her siblings. Pam graduated from Akron High School in 1961. Pam spent the last 25 years living in Ruidoso, New Mexico. She passed away in Amarillo, Texas on August 8, 2016 after a lengthy battle with dementia. Services were held on August 12, 2016 at Brooks Funeral Chapel.

    On the morning of Aug. 3, 2016, a 93-year love affair with life ended when Pat Johnson left this earth. Memorial services were Tuesday, Aug. 9 at the First United Methodist Church in Vermillion, S.D.

    He was born March 19, 1923 on a farm southeast of Akron, Iowa, about a mile from the Ruble store. Pat was the youngest child with three older sisters in a family of farmers. This was prophetic as farming was one of Pat’s main passions.

    Dennis “Denny” Patrick Welch, 77

    Dennis “Denny” Patrick Welch of Shorewood, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Illinois.

    Denny was born on December 12, 1938, at the home of his parents, Raymond and Elizabeth (Namel) Welch in rural Westfield, Iowa. He graduated from Westfield High School in 1957. Dennis retired from the E.J.&E. Railroad in Joliet, Illinois in 2001 after 43 years of service.
