West Sioux can say ‘We are Champions!’

The West Sioux Falcons came, they saw, and they conquered. The Falcons played the Hudson Pirates and sank the Pirates by the score of 35-14 to become Class A State Football Champions! First state football championship for the school.

    Chalk up one more for West Sioux

    The West Sioux Falcons took on the Council Bluffs St. Albert Falcons in the UNI Dome on Nov. 10.

    West Sioux handed the SA Falcons a 55-21 thrashing in convincing fashion. You could have basted the bird in the second quarter as SA was pretty well done.

    WS Falcons go to the Dome!

    The West Sioux Falcons definitely showed their metal by destroying the Eagles of West Hancock on Friday, Nov. 3. West Sioux will be in their first time semi-final as they take on the Falcons of Council Bluffs St. Alberts. The two teams will tangle at 1:06 p.m. on Friday.

    West Sioux was led behind the running of Jacob Lynott, who rushed 19 times for 254 yards. Lynott tallied 169 yards

    WS destroys Sioux Central Rebels

    The Rebels of Sioux Central visited the West Sioux Falcons on October 27 only to be annihilated 63-6. The best thing SC could have done is put a white flag on a stick and get back on the bus.

    SC took the opening kickoff but had to punt the ball away. WS drove 64 yards using four plays to grab a 7-0 lead. Chase Koopmans scored on a one yard run.

    WS ends regular season undefeated

    The No. 1 ranked West Sioux Falcons in Class A finished the regular season unbeaten after defeating Akron-Westfield 44-6, Oct. 20 at home. Their record is 9-0.

    First round post season action begins Oct. 27, 7 p.m., in Hawarden when West Sioux faces Sioux Central, Sioux Rapids (7-2) with winner advancing to face winner of Bishop Garrigan, Algona (9-0) and West Hancock, Britt (6-3) on Nov. 3 in Hawarden. Both games are 7 p.m.

    West Sioux District champs!

    With West Sioux’s win Oct. 13 over Woodbury Central, 78-7, the Class A No. 1 ranked Falcons secured their place as District champs in Class A District 1. They remain unbeaten through eight games.

    The Falcons face Akron-Westfield at home Oct. 20 for the last game of the regular season. First round action begins Friday, Oct. 27 for all classes.

    West Sioux beat Remsen St. Mary's in four Sept. 12. Scores: 24-26, 25-16, 25-9, 25-18.

    “We played solid volleyball the whole time, however we stepped up our serving the last three games. Abbie Ericson., Katey Koopmans., Payton Schwiesow., Josie McKee, and Taylor Rodenburgh., all served tough in the last three games. The first game we just had a hard time finishing plays.
