A-W Class of 2018 graduates Sunday

Akron-Westfield Community School District will have 40 students, including one junior, walking across the stage to get their diplomas this Sunday afternoon.

Commencement begins at 2 p.m. in the old gym.

Not only will these students be moving on to the next chapter of their lives, several faculty and staff are also saying farewell.

Teachers Robin Dirks and Kim Meerdink have retired along with Special Education Aide Edie Coon.

Teachers resigning include:

• Katie Fang, high school English teacher/Speech coach;

• Trent Ruhland, Industrial Technology teacher/head wrestling coach;

• Eric Thien, Elementary Physical Education teacher/head volleyball coach and assistant high school track coach;

    Spencer Olson qualifies for golf districts

    Akron-Westfield junior Spencer Olson qualified as an individual district qualifier at the Boys’ Golf Sectional Tournament held May 11 at Boyden-Hull in Hull.
