A-W students celebrate Red Ribbon Week

Posted October 30, 2014 at 6:05 pm

By Julie Ann Madden

At 8 a.m. Monday morning, Akron-Westfield students kicked off Red Ribbon Week by making a human “ribbon” during their school daily opening in the new gymnasium.

“By wearing red ribbons and participating in anti-drug events, young people can pledge to live a drug-free life and also pay tribute to a Drug Enforcement Administration Special Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena,” begins the statement all Akron-Westfield students will hear this week from Principals Derek Briggs and Cathy Bobier.
