Local legionnaires discovered a veteran’s flag, which had been presented to family members at a deceased veteran’s funeral, was placed in their Used Flag Drop Box at Fourth and Reed Streets in Akron.

“There could be a million reasons why this flag was placed in the Used Flag Drop Box,” said Legionnaire Stan Rolfes, explaining the Albert E. Hoschler American Legion Post No. 186 members would like to honor that veteran by placing that flag in Akron’s Avenue of Flags.

To do so, they would like whoever knows the name of that flag’s veteran and information to please contact Legionnaire Stan Rolfes, 712-568-3492 or Post Commander Warren Thompson, 712-541-2176.

“There will be no questions asked and the family’s information will be kept confidential,” said Rolfes, noting the flag had been well cared for. “We just want to honor this veteran.”
