Hometown Christmas set for November 29

Posted November 16, 2017 at 3:25 pm

The Akron Area Chamber of Commerce’s third annual Hometown Christmas is packed full of activities to usher in the Christmas Spirit.

Hometown Christmas will be from 5 to 8 p..m., Wednesday, Nov. 29 in Akron.

The fun begins at 5 p.m. with Santa and Mrs. Claus arriving in Akron on a fire truck. They will arrive at the west end of Reed Street and go to the Legion Hall. There will be a tree lighting ceremony. Bring the whole family and welcome the Claus’ to town.

Afterward, Santa and Mrs. Claus will visit with children in the Akron Public Library Meeting Room.

While at the library, children can write letters to Santa of their Christmas wish lists or bring one with them — the librarians will collect the letters and make sure Santa takes them with him when he and Mrs. Claus return to the North Pole. There will also be a “Children’s Coloring Corner” in the library for children to enjoy while waiting to see Santa.

The Claus’ visit is just the beginning of fun to behold and participate.
