What is chiropractic care?

It’s a process to help fix somebody — ultimately it’s allowing the body to heal naturally instead of trying to put something else in us to change our function,” said Dr. Brad Britton of Britton Chiropractic & Rehab Clinic.

“The basis of chiropractic is the nervous system — the nervous system controls the entire body — no matter what you want to talk about be it our immune system, be it your digestive system and be it our hormone system,” he explained.

“Not only can chiropractic reduce neck pain, back pain, headaches.” said Dr. Britton. “We can optimize the nervous system allowing the body to work better.”

“Everybody is symptom-based,” he said. “We come in for the pain instead of looking at the underlying health and well being of our bodies.”

Driving my car — as long as a light doesn’t turn on or there is a squeak — I’m not going to do anything with my car but if a light turns on, then I’m going to put tape over it so I don’t see the light anymore, Dr. Britton explained. “Now if you don’t see the light, that’s perfect. You don’t have to deal with it — that symptom is gone, right?”

“Instead of covering up things, we want to get to the nuts and bolts of it all with chiropractic care,” he said.

“Obviously what we do is traditional chiropractic care, along with full physical rehabilitative services,” said Dr. Britton. “We do help with the symptoms but most importantly, we want to fix underlying causes of the symptoms.”

“That’s why it’s usually not a one-shot wonder,” he said.

“It’s important for people to know that even though we are willing to meet people where they are at, it won’t change our recommendations to have the best effect for them,” said Dr. Britton. “In other words, if somebody just wants to get in and get an adjustment and not come back until they decide they want to do that again, we will respect that.”

“However, we’ll try to help them better understand why that may not be the best approach for them,” he said.

“We definitely work a lot with the whole body,” said Dr. Britton, explaining he also provides nutritional services with anything from weight loss to improving digestive systems and boosting the immune system. “We also have our 24-hour fitness facility.”
