Many will notice Akron’s footprint is changing. At the northeast corner of Iowa Highways 3 and 12, the original Casey’s store, gas pumps and tanks have all been removed from the site. Now, Casey’s contractor will be installing a truck diesel fuel station. The new Casey’s store has already been open several weeks on the southeast corner of this intersection.

Another change in Akron is the interior of the Mat Trotzig Law Office building at 221 Reed St. Leasee Postrock Brokerage owner Nathan Harris has remodeled their office’s interior.

At the southeast corner of Iowa Highway 12 and Reed Street, city officials began removing the chain link fencing last week in preparation for moving of the town’s electric substation. The substation will be moved south (to the area to the right in the photograph). It will also be upgraded.
