The Akron-Westfield football team totaled 499 yards in offense while holding the Jays to 110 offensive yards on Friday, September 28.

In a game that was close to an aerial circus, a total of 77 passes were thrown. Nick Jacobs was 30 for 49 in passing for a total of 291 yards. Jacobs also ran for 118 yards in 23 carries. A-W had 208 rushing yards, compared to Gehlen’s 11.

Jacobs scored first on a three yard run to give A-W a 6-0 lead. Jacobs later scored on a four yard run to make it 12-0.

Chase Stowe scored on an 11 yard touchdown pass from Jacobs to make the score 18-0 at half.

At the start of the 3rd quarter, A-W went on a 16 play drive that stalled on the Jay’s 26.

Gehlen Catholic took over the ball at their own 26. On their first play, Ryan Livermore tried to pass but Dominic Trobaugh intercepted his pass and returned it 20 yards to score. A-W now led 26-0 and had things in control.

Gehlen moved the ball to the A-W 30 before Chris Steffen intercepted to stop the Jay drive.

A-W scored one more time as Jacobs completed a 25 yard pass to Reagan Frankl to make it 34-0.

Defensively, A-W played pretty well as John Henrich, Chris Steffen, Levi Hemmelrick, and Aydin Dicks led the way tackling. The offensive line blocked better to protect and to open some holes.

Hey Neuby- We’re now 4-2 for the year. Two lousy PAT’s kept us from being perfect.
