Mark Saturday, Oct. 20 on your calendar! Beginning at 4 p.m., downtown Reed Street is the place to be.

Several entities have created an evening Halloween Spooktacular.

There will be:

• Pumpkin Decorating: People of all ages can carve or paint a pumpkin, which will then be used to decorate Reed Street. People can pick up their pumpkins after the Halloween Parade on Oct. 31.

Children, age 18 and under, must be accompanied by an adult to do this activity.

Pumpkins and decorating supplies are “while supplies last.”

The pumpkins are provided by Bluebird Springs Orchard and Peoples Bank. Decorating supplies are donated by Akron Gold & Silver, Chubs Country Store and Thorson Drug.

• Selfie Photos: On Chubs Country Store patio, take a selfie in The Akron Hometowner’s “Car.” The Akron Hometowner is also sponsoring the advertising for the Halloween Spooktacular.

• Chili Bar: Akron Jo’s Cafe is hosting a Chili Bar so people can enjoy supper during the fun. Cost is $3 per person.

• Create & Chow Snack: New Horizons United Church of Christ invites children of all ages in to create a healthy, edible snack.

• Hot Cocoa: Broken Kettle Wine Cellars will be serving hot cocoa.

Make S’mores: People can make S’mores at the fire pits. This activity is sponsored by Lazy H Campground.

• Movie Finale: The Akron Family Aquatic Center Committee is hosting a movie fundraiser. A movie will be shown at the Akron Opera House following the rest of the activities, which end at 6 p.m.
