Albert E Hoschler Post 186 Commander Warren Thompson has announced the annual observance of Memorial Day will be held in Akron May 27 with a Memorial program in the park starting at 10:30 a.m.

Collin Coyle will begin a musical salute of tunes popular with American Soldiers from the Revolutionary War through World War II starting at 10:00 a.m. Bring your lawn chairs and sing along with the songs your parents and grandparents enjoyed.

In case of rain, the program will be held in the upper level of the Legion Hall at Fourth and Reed Streets.

Citizens of the community are invited to attend as a demonstration of honor and respect for all of the military personnel who gave their lives in service to our country. And, to honor all of the deceased veterans of the area who served their country during wartime and peace time. They gave all so people of our great nation could live in freedom.

There will be bleachers in the park for you to sit on, but please feel free to bring your favorite lawn chair if you so wish. There is plenty of room for lawn chairs. There is plenty of parking in the swimming pool parking lot and in the west end of the park. We ask that you do not park in among the Avenue of Flags.

The American Legion Ladies Auxiliary will be serving lunch in the American Legion Hall following the program. Out-of-town visitors are especially welcome to visit and renew acquaintances with community citizens.

Volunteers from the community are invited to help place flags at 6:00 a.m. on Monday, May 27

and also with the retiring of the flags at 4:00 p.m.
