A-W PTA President Jessica Meinen (back left) presented Grades Preschool-6 Principal Cathy Bobier a check for $4,000. The money was used to purchase 30 iPads and a mobile cart for students, including those above, to begin using this week. Teachers will be able to “check out” the cart of iPads to use in their classroom but only one class will be able to use this technology at a time. School officials hope that a proposed voter-approved Physical Plant & Equipment Levy (PPEL) will pass in a special election Sept. 11 so that more iPads and other technological devices could be purchased to enhance students’ educational opportunities at Akron-Westfield. Students raised the remaining $9,000 cost of this purchase by collecting Akron Pizza Ranch Wagon Wheels, Box Tops for Education and Land O Lakes milk caps along with the 2012 school carnival proceeds.
