No more tiny sliding window to peek through to see if there’s a secretary present to provide assistance.
No more tiny office for Preschool-Grades 6 Principal Cathy Bobier to hold conferences in.
When people walk into the main entrance of the Akron-Westfield Community School, they will find a much friendlier office setting.
Contractors have removed the tiny sliding window and several bricks, creating a much larger office window for Secretary Deb Bursell to greet students, families and guests entering the school.
This is the second year, the school no longer has a separate elementary entrance. That area became an entrance to the elementary playground last year.
The new main entrance, which is located on the west side of the school along the Circle Drive, also features several parking spaces off of Kerr Drive.
These parking spaces include one handicap-accessible parking space.
Quite often visitors can find one or more of these parking spaces available, saving the time of driving through the south parking lots and discovering no open parking spaces.
All, but students and district employees entering the school building, are required to sign in at the Main Entrance.
This main office had four small offices directly behind Bursell’s desk. Now, there are only three as the two on the south side have been made into one large office. Bobier now has a conference area and plenty of storage as well as her desk area.
