Noting both Akron-Westfield principals “had been aware for quite some time that I have been actively seeking full-time status at A-W or other school districts,” A-W part-time Physical Education/Health teacher Julie Ludwigs resigned effective Aug. 1.
She found a full-time position with another district.
“I will miss the students I have taught for nne years and leave with only the highest regard for my colleagues and for our school system,” wrote Ludwigs in her resignation letter. “I carry many fine memories with me.”
At a special board meeting on Aug. 7, the Akron-Westfield School Board unanimously accepted her resignation. Board Member Nick Schoenfelder made the motion and Board member Josh Martinsen seconded it. The vote was 4-0 with Board Members Roger Oetken, Phil Parks and Jodi Thompson absent.
Now, A-W administration is looking to hire a part-time to full-time Physical Education teacher.
At the board’s regular monthly meeting Aug. 13, Preschool-Grades 6 Principal Cathy Bobier told the board she had set up three candidates to interview and if that wasn’t successful, she would consider long-term substitutes to fill the vacancy.
