Sioux County Sheriff’s Report

Sioux County Sheriff’s deputies responded to two area accidents recently.

On Sept. 23, at 11:05 p.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred on 420th Street, two miles north of Hawarden.

Jenness Wolgren, age 29, of Orange City, was driving a 1996 Chevolet Corsica eastbound on 420th Street when a deer entered the roadway and the two collided.

No injuries were reported.

The Chevrolet sustained about $3,500 in damages.

On Sept. 24, at 6:15 p.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Iowa Highway 12, three miles north of Chatsworth.

Todd De Boer, age 52, of Le Mars, was driving a 2008 Dodge Caravan southbound on Iowa Highway 12. Matthew Osterkamp, age 22, of Le Mars, was driving a 1998 Dodge Dakota southbound on Highway 12 behind De Boer. Osterkamp began passing De Boer as De Boer started to turn left onto a farm driveway and the two collided.

No injuries were reported.

De Boer’s vehicle sustained about $4,000 in damages. Osterkamp’s vehicle sustained about $3,000 in damages.
