West Sioux High School senior Cristine Bronkhorst has been interested in puppets for years.

“I have been interested since the Fifth Grade,” said Bronkorst.

On Sept. 26, Bronkorst showed Kindergarten through Second Grade students her talents as a puppeteer at a Hawarden Public Library program, “A Bad Case of the Stripes.” Children’s librarian Janna Kingma read the book of that title while Bronkhorst through her puppet “Steve.”

Bronkhorst said she and a few friends do puppet shows at Hawarden’s United Methodist Church. The puppets have characters of various ages, from youth to senior citizens.
