Gavin Culler, 4 year old son of Tyler and Michelle (Taylor) Van Driel of Akron, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at home in Akron.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron. Pastor Steve Jewett from New Horizons United Church of Christ in Akron will officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City. Visitation with the family present will be after 4:00 p.m. on Monday, October 22, 2012 with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m., all at Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron. The Carlsen Funeral Home – Schroeder Chapel in Akron is in charge of arrangements. Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Gavin’s name for a memorial to be established at a later date.

Gavin Dwight Culler was born March 26, 2008 in Sioux City, Iowa. Through Gavin’s challenges, he always brought a sense of happiness to those around him with his infectious smile. Watching cartoons would always bring a smile and laughter. He will be greatly missed by the many he has touched.

Survivors include his parents: Tyler and Michelle Van Driel of Akron; his maternal grandparents: Scott and Bonnie Taylor of Westfield, IA; his paternal grandparents: Kevin and Susan Van Driel of Hawarden, IA; his great grandparents: Robert Taylor of Westfield, IA, Fran Mitchell of Hornick, IA, Marge Van Driel of Ireton, IA, and Leola Bakker of Rock Valley, IA; his aunts and uncles: Kelli Anderson (Kelsey) of Pierre, SD, and their children, Harris and Lilian, Bobbi Taylor of Glenwood Springs, CO, Gregg Taylor of Westfield, IA, Marissa Van Driel of Sioux City, IA, and Chase Van Driel of Hawarden, IA; his God parents: Justin Mitchell of Sloan, IA, and Ashley Knight of Augusta, GA; and numerous great aunts and great uncles and many other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his great grandparents: Gwana Taylor, Lyle Mitchell, Henry Bakker, and Arlin Van Driel; his uncle: Ethan Van Driel; and a great uncle: Gregg Mitchell.
