Akron Opera House presents two comedies

The Akron Opera House presents the third offering of the theatre season November 2, 3, 16, 17 & 18.

Two one-act comedies will be presented under the direction of Tim Blum.

Newcomers to the AOH stage are Rose Pilgrim, Alec Heeren, and Amy Schoenfelder, who will present her first speaking and non-speaking parts.

“Take Five” will be the opening play with cast members, Doug Olson, Dave Olson, Jeff Pilgrim, Rose Pilgrim, Amy Schoenfelder and Monte Erks.

The curtain opens on an unfinished stage with stagehands, Mike and Lester setting up for a show to take place the next night.

The phone on the stage rings with a distressed woman looking for her husband, Greg Baxter.

Mike and Lester suddenly realize that there is an audience with Greg Baxter in it, and the show is actually tonight!

The show goes on with audience member, Greg, both stage hands and the actors occupying the stage at the same time, creating havoc.

The second offering of the evening is “The Audition” with cast members, Melea Nielsen, Retta Anderson, Lori Rabey, Jeff Pilgrim, Amy Schoenfelder and Alec Heeren.

In this play, the stage manager has the task of auditioning characters for the Greek drama “Medea.”

The candidates are less than perfect for their parts. They run from the pompous and flamboyant English actor to a mime who must play the part of the chorus.

Come and watch the stage manager try to keep her cool through this circus-like audition!

The two plays will be presented at 7:30 p.m. November 2, 3, 16 and 17, and at 2 p.m. on November 18.
