West Sioux saw its volleyball season come to an end with a 3-0 loss to No. 5-ranked Central Lyon in the Class 1A regional playoff match.

Central Lyon won 25-9, 25-19 and 25-17 on Oct. 16 in Rock Rapids.

The Lady Falcons closed the season with a 10-14 record.

“Central Lyon was a very solid team. I was impressed with their control and scrappiness. Central Lyon had some great hitters who really knew how to find holes,” said West Sioux Coach Laura Hensley.

“With that said, we had one of our best passing matches of the whole season and did well on our blocks. Carissa Anderson had a great match. She passed 20 serves with only one error and she had 13 digs. Rylee Negaard and Shannon Jasper both played well offensively and Carly Dekkers, Jasper and Callie Schmidt all put up some great blocks,” said Hensley.

“It was a sad loss knowing it that would be their last high school match. We thank Carissa Anderson, Jaylen Blankenship, Maddy Eilts, Tori McKee and Calie Peterson and appreciate all their years of hard work,” said Hensley.

War Eagle Conference honors

Jasper was voted All-WEC Second Team and Anderson was voted Honorable Mention. Anderson was No. 5 in highest number of digs and Jasper was No. 2 in highest number of blocks in the conference. Jasper was also No. 9 in kill efficiency. Negaard also made the statistics conference rankings in aces.
