Congressman Steve King (R-Kiron) took a break from his re-election efforts to take aim at pheasants on the opening day of pheasant hunting season, at the Hole-N’-the-Wall lodge in rural Akron.

“I look forward to this every year, whether it is an election year or not,” said King.

King is in a heated General Election battle with Democrat Christie Vilsack for the Fourth Iowa District Congressional seat on Nov. 6.

King said he did fair in the hunting department on a Saturday afternoon. He praised how the Hole-N’-The-Wall Lodge owner Dan Wells has presented the lodge property over the years.

“Everything here is first class, from the decor inside to the hunting outside,” said King.

King thanked area military servicemen for their contributions at a dinner after the hunting.
