Plymouth and Sioux county fire officials requested that open burning bans, in place due to the Summer drought, be lifted as of 8 a.m. Oct. 27 and the State Fire Marshal Division of the Iowa Department of Public Safety granted both requests.

Dave Schipper, Le Mars Fire Chief, made the request on behalf of Plymouth County fire departments.

Wayne Huizenga, Emergency Management Director for Sioux County, made the request for Sioux County fire departments.

Plymouth County’s burn ban was effective since July 17; Aug. 3 was the start of the Sioux County burn ban.

“Sioux County Emergency Management and the Sioux County Fire Departments would like to thank everyone for their compliance during the ban,” said Huizenga in a press release.
