The Akron-Westfield Elementary computer lab had new typing software installed on the computers called “Type to Learn” (version 4) on October 30.
“Type to Learn” is a program which helps teach students how to properly type on a keyboard, and improve their typing speed. The program itself is developed by the software company Sunburst, who provides many different educational programs.
The new software originally came about three weeks ago. The software was installed on October 30, but won’t be functional until the students are added to the programs database.
Mr. Dwain Wilmot, school computer technician, said he expected the software to be ready for use by November 7 if all goes well.
