Gil Haugan Construction workers are in a race with Mother Nature.
Their goal is to get the new Akron Care Center building enclosed before winter strikes, which will give them plenty of time to complete the interior work before the state-mandated August 2013 nursing home operation deadline.
According to Akron Public Works Director Gary Horton, MidAmerican Energy employees (above) were busy Saturday, Nov. 3, installing natural gas service line to the Care Center.
On Nov. 6, subcontractor Vander Pol of Orange City employees were paving the Care Center’s entrance, parking lot and driveway around the Care Center. This week, they should finish up with the paving they want to get done this Fall.
This week, crews are continuing work on the roofing. They are shingling the roof. Then crews will start work on installing windows and siding.
At present time, they are also working inside installing the electric, plumbing and fire sprinkling systems.
