Raymond A. Jensen, 62
Raymond A. Jensen of Hawarden, died Monday, November 26, 2012, at the Department of Veterans Affairs Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Hawarden with Rev. Barb Joy officiating. Burial will follow in the Grace Hill Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon Wednesday, with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church. The Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden is assisting the family. Raymond A. Jensen was born February 15, 1950 in Akron the son of Raymond and Florence (Skogman) Jensen. Following his mother’s death, Raymond was raised by his aunt and uncle Andrew “Pete” and Dorothy Berg. He served in the US Army from August 1970 to December of 1971.
Raymond married Sally (Ryan) Meinerts and they made their home in Hawarden and they had 2 daughters, Jolene and Jana and 3 step daughters, Rhonda, Robyn, and Julie. He later married Arlene Waag and was joined to 6 step children, David, Danny, Kathy, Becky, Patti, and Nancy. They lived in Alcester, South Dakota.
He was employed as a diesel mechanic and also worked construction in the Alcester and Hawarden areas. Raymond was later employed at Boyer Sand and Gravel. He enjoyed his memberships at the American Legion Posts in Akron, Alcester, Hawarden, and Hudson and was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Hawarden.
Raymond is survived by 2 daughters, Jolene Topete of Hawarden and Jana (Valentin) Topete also of Hawarden ; 3 other step daughters, Rhonda (Duane) Reineke of Livermore, Iowa, Robyn (Troy) Ogan of Hawarden and Julie (Craig) Maloney of Freeman, South Dakota; 2 biological sisters, Bonnie (Jerry) Vlotho of Sioux Center, Iowa and Sally (Darlow) Busch of Ireton, Iowa; a sister with whom he was raised, Marilyn (Gerald) Erickson of South Sioux City, Nebraska; 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; a special niece, Christy Busch; and other nieces and nephews.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; an aunt and uncle Pete and Dorothy Berg; a step daughter, Kathy Jensen; and a nephew, Jeff “Hopper” Vlotho.
