Mary Virginia Sutton died Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at Tabitha Hospice in Lincoln, NE. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. Butherus, Maser & Love Funeral Home in Lincoln is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be left at www.bmlfh.com.
Mary was born September 24, 1928, in Wilmot, SD, to William Clyde and Mabel (Kierscht) Harpole. She married Hadley James (Jim) Sutton, Jr. on April 10, 1947.
Surviving her are two daughters, Linda (Bob) Hilligas of Honey Creek, IA and Pamela Sutton Gibson of Lincoln; three granddaughters, Chrystal Gard of Omaha NE, Rachel Gibson and Elayne Gibson of Lincoln; brothers, Jerry Harpole of Sea Side, CA, and Darrell (Louise) Harpole of Ralston, IA; and sister, Margaret (Leo) Faust of Akron; along with nieces and nephews.
Virginia’s parents, husband Jim Sutton, siblings Dean Harpole, Vern Harpole, Janice (Jack) Magee and son-in-law Robert (Bob) Gibson preceded her in death.
Virginia lived for over 50 years in Sidney, IA with her husband and children. She graduated from Percival High School and spent time in Fort Knox in Kentucky and Fort Lewis in Washington during her husband’s service in the Army. She was a homemaker and co-owner of the family implement business. She moved to Lincoln in 2002 and lived at the Landing at Williamsburg until March 2012, after which she moved in with her daughter Pam and family.
