Akron, Iowa, is on their performance schedule along with South Dakota, Indiana, Florida and Louisiana this Christmas season.
At 7:30 p.m., this Saturday, Dec. 15, the Brown family of rural Merrill will grace the stage of the Akron Opera House, providing plenty of Christmas Spirit and the real reason for the holiday: Jesus, a baby born in Bethlehem to save the world from their sins as professed in the Bible.
Shelly Brown and her children, Michaela, Adam and Andrew, will put the final touches on the Akron community’s Christmas with their singing and instrument playing, including strumming violins. Behind the scenes will be her husband, Keith, who not only farms near Merrill but is the family’s bus driver and sound technician on their concert tour. Missing from the stage will be their daughter, Jessica Brown Trammel who is enjoying motherhood.
The Browns recently released a new compact disc called “Now” that includes songs written and performed by Michaela, who also released a compact disc of instrumental music entitled “4Strings.”
The Browns’ performance is sponsored by Mary and John Luken of Akron.
To reserve seats, call the Akron Opera House ticket line at 568-2614 or just show up before the performance.
The Akron Opera House Board of Directors wishes all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. The first Akron Opera House production in the New Year is the comedy, “Big Guns or Whose Little Lilly is She,” directed by Tim Blum of Westfield. The performances will be Jan. 25, 26 and Feb. 1, 2 and 3.
