Program background

“The school is noticing that there are more families struggling to pay hot lunch bills and the need continues to grow, according to a program flier. There is a high number of students in the District who qualify for free or reduced priced lunch.

The School Administration and staff help to identify students who could receive the sack packs if they haven’t already signed up for the program. A school representative distributes the bags discreetly each Friday by bringing them to each location.

Program objectives are to provide nutritious, healthy food to children at risk of hunger for preparation and consumption at their residence; to distribute food discreetly in easily accessible and safe environments; and to involve resources and community partners in order to assure success of the program.
