Bethany Eastman is on offense for the Westerners against Alcester-Hudson.

Akron-Westfield girls’ basketball team could not keep its first-half momentum up and lost to Alcester-Hudson Cubs, 39-27, Jan. 17.

The Cubs were able to open up a 30-24 lead in the second half, and the Lady Westerners only scored three points the rest of the way after a steal and lay-up basket by Dana Hedlund.

Sarah Schroeder gave A-W a 30-26 deficit but that was as close as the visitors would come early in the fourth quarter.
