SOS edges WS girls for league win

West Sioux girls’ basketball team dropped a hard-fought 55-53 War Eagle Conference clash at South O’Brien in Paullina Jan. 22.

The Lady Falcons’ overall record was 10-6 after the loss.

Jade Lynn Vlotho led the visitors with 20 points.

It was the Lady Falcons’ third straight loss.

In another game

West Sioux lost to Alcester-Hudson, 58-53, in non-conference play on Jan. 15.

Vlotho led the way with 21 points and eight rebounds. Bailey VanDenBerg had 17 points as she made four three-point baskets. Carissa Anderson netted nine points.

The Cubs led 33-18 at halftime before the Lady Falcons won the third quarter, 24-13, to key a more competitive second half.

Callie Schmidt: 2 points, 1-of-3 all field goal attempts, 0-of-2 free throw attempts, 6 rebounds.

Vlotho: 21 points, 9-of-17 all field goal attempts, 4-of-14 three-point field goal attempts, 7-of-21 free throw attempts, 30 rebounds, 9 assists, 11 steals.

Senior Night

The final regular season home contest for Lady Falcons seniors VanDenBerg. Hummel, Anderson and Vlotho will be when the Lady Falcons host Gehlen Catholic at 6:00 p.m., Feb. 5.

The girls and boys host Hinton on Feb. 1.
