Akron-Westfield girls’ basketball team gained its seventh win of the season as it downed Trinity Christian, 43-39 in Hull Jan. 29.
Senior Haley Coyle scored 11 points to lead the Lady Westerners. She made 3-for-4 three-point shots, added five rebounds, two steals and one assist.
A-W was ahead, 26-18 at halftime but it was all tied up 30-30 after three quarters.
A-W made the clutch plays when it had to in the final stanza for a 13-9 edge in the period to provide the margin of victory. A-W stood at 7-12 overall record after the non-conference win.
Following Coyle in the scoring column was Kayla Tindall who tallied eight points on 4-for-8 shooting and had seven rebounds and three steals.
Dana Hedlund scored seven points and dished out four assists.
Jordan Hansen scored five points and had four assists.
Bethany Eastman had six points and four rebounds.
Sarah Schroeder contributed four points, seven rebounds, one blocked shot and one assist.
With two games remaining in the regular season, A-W had a chance for a nine-win season after a two-game winning streak.
A-W concluded the regular season Feb. 5 by hosting Hinton, which was seeking a WEC title. It was Parents’ Night for seniors with the only senior on the squad Coyle.

Hansen: 5 points, 1 rebound, 4 assists, 4 steals.
Dana Hedlund: 7 points, 1 rebound, 4 assists, 3 steals. 1 blocked shot.
Schroeder: 4 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 blocked shot.
Coyle: 11 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals.
Bethany Eastman: 6 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal.
Tindall: 8 points, 7 rebounds, 3 steals.
Team: 43 points, 28 rebounds, 13 assists, 14 steals, 2 blocked shots.
