West Sioux boys’ basketball team was close to Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn briefly, an 11-8 deficit, but the Eagles took off from there and cruised to a 68-24 non-conference win on Jan. 29.
Tyler Prunty had 17 points and Jacob Spieler scored 15 for the Eagles, who had a 12-5 overall record after the easy win.
The taller Eagles led 38-16 at halftime against the three-win Falcons.
Kembi Kooi scored the most points for West Sioux with six. Jesus Rivera and Braedon Petersen both had five.
The Falcons hosted Gehlen Catholic Feb. 5 for Senior Night for Kooi, Petersen, Lee Tapper and Steven Marienau.
The regular season concludes with a chance to sweep Akron-Westfield boys, who will be gunning for a split, Feb. 8 at A-W. Both teams have combined for five wins as of Jan. 30 and will be shooting to end the season on a bright note.
The two teams will battle a third time for the regional game, 7 p.m., Feb. 11 at West Sioux.
