Eight Falcon wrestlers earned places at K-P

Eight West Sioux wrestlers placed in the Kingsley-Pierson tournament Jan. 26 and the Falcons finished in eighth in the team standings.

West Sioux had 83 team points.

The individual West Sioux results:

Alex Montes had the best finish with a second-place effort at 120 pounds. Montes won by pin against Edgar Ayala of Pocahontas Area (no times for pins) but lost to Tommy Toben of Akron-Westfield in a 14-4 major decision.

Misael Topete was third for the Falcons at 126 pounds. He lost to Tyler Jewett of Westwood 15-4; he beat Dameon Doyen of Pocahontas Area by pin; he won by decision against Colin Poss of Hinton 8-5.

Ricardo Rodriquez won fourth place for the Falcons at 195 pounds. He lost to Jeremy Watson of Pocahontas Area; won by pin against Cameron VandenBrink of Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn; won by pin against Chris Weiler of Kingsley-Pierson and lost by pin to Tyler Schuck of Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn.

Jake Sanow was fifth for West Sioux at 138 pounds. He won by decision against Nathan Kulp of Pocahontas Area (no score given); won by major decision against Mark Peters of MMC 15-6; won by pun against Sergio Cabrajal of Ridge View.

Antonio Pleitez was fifth for the Falcons at 145 pounds. He won by decision against Tony Baker of Westwood 7-7; won by pin against Lucas Turner of Kingsley-Pierson; lost by decision against Andy Pratt of Kingsley-Pierson 13-6; won by decision against Tanner DeVries of Westwood 3-1.

Jonny Duenas of the Falcons was sixth at 132 pounds. He lost to Adam Sitzmann of Hinton by pin; lost to Tanner Orwig of Pocahontas Area by a 12-10 decision; lost by pin to Isaac Reis of Kingsley-Pierson.

Eddie Armenta was sixth at 152 pounds for West Sioux. He won by pin against Joe Kenny of Ridge View; lost to Quinton Robinson of Hinton by pin; lost to Tylar Hansen of Ridge View by decision, no score given.

Austin Hultquist had an 0-2 tournament record at 170 pounds. He lost to Dillion Kunneke of Ridge View by pin and lost by pin to Jacobv Meehan of MMC.

West Sioux’s 83 points was one better than Westwood for eighth place in the nine-team meet.

West Sioux was at the Central Lyon sectional meet Feb. 2. If any Falcons won first or second place to advance, they will do so Feb. 9 at Okoboji in Milford.
