On February 12 AW High School students will attend an assembly from nine to ten in the morning where they will hear speaker Joel Penton, a nationally known speaker who is known for his positive messages.
Penton takes a relevant approach to teen issues and focuses on the positive results created by good decisions rather than the negative consequences that occur from making bad choices.
Penton, a graduate of Ohio State University, played five years of football for OSU, during which he was a member of three Big Ten Championship teams, a member of the National Championship team, and a 4-time Academic All-Big Ten Selection. He was also the recipient of the Wuerffel Trophy, also known as the Humanitarian Heisman. After he graduated, Penton turned down the opportunity to play professional football to start a career speaking to students across the country.
Penton addresses topics such as commitment, bullying, and making the right choices in his assemblies.
Penton will also be giving a free concert in Hawarden February 11 at 7:30 p.m. for community members who wish to attend and hear his message.
