Hinton’s too much for A-W girls

Hinton’s Lady Blackhawks, the newly crowned champions of the War Eagle Conference, won in going-away fashion in a 56-33 league win against Akron-Westfield on Feb. 5.

It was Parents’ Night for the Lady Westerners and the lone senior, Haley Coyle, was honored in between games.

Junior Bethany Eastman was the leading A-W scorer with eight points and had four rebounds.

Kortney Hedlund and Sarah Schroeder added six points each.

Dana Hedlund had three points and the team’s only three-point basket.

Kayla Tindall had four points and four rebounds.

A-W made 8-of-10 free-throw attempts, with Schroeder leading the way with four.

A-W shot 12-of-45 all field goal attempts, and 1-of-7 for three-pointers.

The Lady Blackhawks led 20-6 after one quarter and 34-9 at halftime.

A-W finished the regular season with a 7-14 overall record.
