The West Sioux boys’ basketball team faced Boyden-Hull in the second round of the Class 1A basketball playoffs Feb. 14.

The Comets, 19-3 overall record, zoomed past the Falcons by a score of 57-22.

The Falcons’ season ended with a 5-19 record.

The Comets led 21-4 after eight minutes, 35-8 at halftime. The Comets were led by JC Koerselman who scored 19 points and Brandt Van Roekel had 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Justin Negaard had six points to lead the Falcons. Lee Tapper had six rebounds.

“It was a pretty good effort. We started a little slow and they started off well and that combination hurt us. We had some good looks but could not get the ball to go in the hole,” said West Sioux coach Jerome Hoegh.

“A lot of games this season we were in them. We had a very young team. Hopefully with the end of the season they will be excited and improve,” said Hoegh.
