At their March 5 meeting, Westfield councilors were informed city officials had received a letter of resignation from City Clerk Andrea Westergard, effective immediately.

Councilor Don Dion made the motion to accept the resignation and Councilor Jim Ulatowski seconded it. The vote was 4-0 as Councilor Marcia Dewey didn’t arrive until later in the meeting. The council also unanimously appointed former City Clerk Barbette Grimm as temporary clerk.

In other business:

• Decided curb-side recycling will start April 1 and be every other week. They will take action on a recycling ordinance at their next meeting.

• Held a public hearing, then unanimously approved the city’s 2013-2014 budget, which is almost exactly the same as last year. The only difference is a revenue increase from an increase in property valuations.
