On Thursday, March 21, at 11:26 a.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Iowa Highway 10 and Elmwood Avenue, two miles northeast of Ireton.
George Unger, 23 of Albert City, was driving a 2012 Dodge Caravan eastbound on Iowa Highway 10. Luis Marquez, 20 of Sioux Center, was driving a 1994 Jeep Wrangler southbound on Elwood Avenue. Marquez continued driving southbound from the stop sign at Iowa Highway 10 and struck Unger’s vehicle, police reported.
No injuries were reported.
The Dodge sustained about $5,000 in damage. The Jeep sustained about $4,000 in damage.
Marquez was cited for failure to yield from a stop sign and driving without a driver’s license.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Ireton Fire Department and Ireton Ambulance.
