Bald Eagles reign at Big Sioux Recreation Area

Last week there were more than 50 Bald Eagles at the Big Sioux Recreation Area, which is also known as the former “south pit” at Hawarden. At the Sioux County park, there were a variety of birds, including the eagles, Canada geese and hawks. According to a Hawarden City Office employee, the Bald Eagles stopped on their migration north and most have flown on.
