George Eldon Hitzemann was born August 26, 1930, near Akron, Iowa, the son of Henry and Helen (Von Hagel) Hitzemann. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron. He attended country school in Plymouth County, Iowa.
He was united in marriage to Marilyn Meske on February 25, 1951, in Akron. They farmed near Akron for several years until his health didn’t allow him to continue. After retiring from farming, he started driving truck for his brother and hauled fertilizer for Brown’s in Akron until retiring.
He was lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron, where he sang in the church choir and ushered. George enjoyed watching Major League Baseball, playing cards, and attending auctions. He and Marilyn enjoyed square dancing and their winters in Arizona. George loved his Farmall tractors, collecting and restoring them.
