Larry Searls of Beresford, Akron, and Hawarden areas died on Monday, April 22, 2013, at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls from complications following a short illness.

Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 25 at the First Baptist Church in Hawarden with Pastor Stuart Schreur officiating. A luncheon will follow and then burial at the Riverside Cemetery in Akron. Visitation will begin at noon Wednesday, with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church. Larry L. Searls was born May 25, 1945, in Akron, Iowa, the son of Lloyd and Ida (Hoffman) Searls. Larry went to school up until he started farming with his dad. He moved to Westfield with his mom and dad where he worked shortly for the City of Westfield until he became employed at Jollytime Popcorn in Sioux City. He worked at Jollytime from September 27, 1984 to August 31, 2010.

Larry loved being with his family and friends and enjoyed giving them tractor rides. He enjoyed getting together with family and friends to listen to old country music and play cards. He also enjoyed going to the Plymouth County Fair, there wasn’t a year that went by that he wouldn’t attend.

Larry is survived by his mother, Ida; sisters, Marlene (Bob) Schiefen of Hawarden and Marie (Jim) Scott of Le Mars; 7 nieces and nephews; and 11 great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd; and his still born brother, Ron.
