Driver receives injuries in car-deer collision

On April 6, at 10:00 p.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident on 315th Street, three miles southwest of Rock Valley.

Jeffery Bakker, 26, of Hawarden, was driving a 1998 Chevrolet Blazer westbound on 315th Street. Bakker reported a deer entered the roadway. He swerved, lost control of his vehicle and it rolled.

Bakker was transported to Hegg-Memorial Hospital by the Rock Valley Ambulance for treatment of minor injuries.

The Chevrolet sustained about $10,000 in damages.

Bakker was cited for failure to maintain control.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Rock Valley Police Department, Rock Valley Fire Department and the Rock Valley Ambulance.

The accident remains under investigation.
