What a month April has been for weather!
On April 16, it was a great spring day. By the evening of April 17, it was snowing again.
According to National Weather Service – Sioux Falls, S.D., Meteorologist Brad Adams, Akron received 4.0 inches of snow and Hawarden 4.2 inches of snow April 18 and into April 19. The sleet, ice and snow covered roads left many slip-sliding their way around the area.
Last weekend was beautiful but Monday morning it started raining and by early afternoon, it was snowing. Forecasters were predicting anywhere from 1 to more than 3 inches of snow by Tuesday. By 3 p.m., downtown businessmen were already shoveling the slush and snow and spreading salt to prevent ice from gathering on their sidewalks. By 3:30 Monday it was blizzard conditions with poor visibility and blowing and heavy snow.
However, by this coming weekend, it’s supposed to warm up to the mid-70s.
