Akron-Westfield Girls Track and Field Team had some solid efforts at the War Eagle Conference meet April 30 as it prepared for the May 9 Girls Track and Field State Qualifying Meet, also held at West Sioux.
At the conference meet, the A-W girls 4×100 Meter Relay had a good effort from Robyn Peinke, Jordan Hansen, Katie Coyle and Katie Johnson. Their time was 57.75 seconds.
Johnson placed fifth for the Westerners in the 100-Yard Dash with a time of 14.00 seconds.
“She is definitely a sprinter, you just go all out,” said A-W girls coach Eric Walkingstick.
The 4×400-girls Relay concluded the meet with a strong finish from Trisha Frerichs, Chandra DeRocher, Taylor Myers and Madison Rife. They placed eighth with a time of 5:29.01.
The A-W Shuttle Hurdle Relay team finished in fifth place with 1:34.32. The relay consisted of Trisha Frerichs, Sydney Pridie, Myers and Alex Franker.
Desi Oltmanns took a tie for eighth place in the High Jump with an effort of 4 feet 6 inches.
A-W had six team points for 10th place.
Akron-Westfield girls’ track and field team had some solid individual efforts and relays as the season resumed at the Boyden-Hull Nighthawk Relays April 26. A-W scored nine team points.
The 4×100-Meter Relay team of Peinke, Jaclyn Smith, Coyle and Johnson placed fifth with a time of 55.50 seconds.
Oltmanns, a sophomore, had a strong effort in the High Jump. She placed fifth with a leap of 4 feet 8 inches.
“She also runs a relay but her main focus is on the High Jump,” said Walkingstick.
The Shuttle Hurdle Relay of Frerichs, Pridie, Myers and Franker placed fifth with a time of 1:28.17.
Lexi Hageman of A-W placed fifth in the 800-Meter Run with a time of 2:48.7.
Johnson placed sixth in the 100-Meter Dash with a time of 13.64 seconds.
