Lois D. Welch, 79

Lois D. Welch, of Vermillion, SD and formerly of Lockhart, TX passed away Saturday, May 18, 2013 at Sanford Vermillion Medical Center.

Lois was born January 5, 1934 in Akron, IA to Elmer & Florence (Wiese) Mook. She attended school in Akron, Iowa. She married Leonard Welch on August 29, 1953 and they moved from Westfield, IA to Houston, TX.

They retired to their ranch “The Why Not” in Harwood, TX until Leonard’s death. She lived in Lockhart, Texas until her move to South Dakota 2 ½ years ago.

She loved to read, was great at doing crossword puzzles and enjoyed football. She also enjoyed spending time with her brother and sisters and many nieces and nephews and their families.

She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard Welch, her parents, Elmer and Florence Mook, brothers; Arnold and David, a sister Shirley Onnen, a brother-in-law Alfred Onnen, nephews; Gary Pyle and Steve Onnen, a great nephew Timothy Sheeran.

Survivors include one brother, Robert (Paulette) Mook, Denver, CO, sisters; Norma (Phil) Aaland, Lebec, CA, Darlis (Craig) Myron, Vermillion, SD and Sheryl (David) Pyle, Jefferson, SD.

Lois was greatly loved by all but will be especially missed by family.

Memorial services will be held at a later date to be announced.
