Westfield councilors hired a new city clerk at their May 14 meeting.

Councilor Tami Hummel made the motion to hire Angela Olson of Akron to fill the part-time city clerk vacancy. Councilor Gerald Bohr seconded it, and the vote was unanimous, 4-0 with Councilor Jim Ulatowski absent.

Angela is a native of Bourbonnais, Ill. She graduated from Coronado High School in El Paso, Texas, in 1987 and earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas – El Paso.

In 1993, she moved back to Illinois and began a career in the banking industry and in 2003, she moved to the Akron community.

Angela is married to Akron-Westfield alumnus, Dave Olson. She is the daughter-in-law of Jerry and Hyla Olson and is a cousin to Kevin Essington, all of Akron.

Angela is an administrative assistant for Winter Feedlot Inc. in rural Akron.

Her hobbies include reading and spending time with Dave and their three dogs.

On Friday, May 24, she will begin the part-time clerk duties.

She will replace interim City Clerk Barbette Grimm.
