Porter Hummel, who just celebrated his 16th birthday two days before, gained a first for him on the golf course May 31.
Hummel, a freshman at West Sioux High School, recorded a hole-in-one at Dakota Dunes Golf Course. It happened on the par-three, 168-yard 16th hole. He used a six-iron club.
Porter’s achievement gave the Hummels a good week on the links as sister Courtney, a senior, placed seventh in the Class 1A State Tournament ending May 29 in Marshalltown.
Courtney and Porter are children of Matt and Dawn Hummel of Hawarden.
Porter is playing baseball for the Falcons this summer and Courtney is playing softball.
