On June 4, at 7:15 a.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Iowa Highways 75 and 10, two miles north of Maurice.
Tamra Daugherty-Wilson, 35 of Hawarden, was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Impala eastbound on Iowa Highway 10, according to Sheriff’s reports. She stopped at the stop sign and then proceeded eastbound across Iowa Highway 75. Loran Weiler, 55 of Le Mars, was driving a 1998 International truck pulling a Low-Boy trailer northbound on Highway 75. As Daughtery-Wilson crossed Highway 75, Wieler’s International truck struck the Chevrolet in the intersection.
The Chevrolet sustained about $10,000 in damages. The International sustained about $6,000 in damages.
Daugherty-Wilson sustained minor injuries but refused ambulance services. Weiler did not report any injuries.
Daugherty-Wilson was issued a citation for failure to yield right of way from a stop sign.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Sioux Center Police Department, Maurice First Responders and the Sioux Center Ambulance.
