The Lady Westerners handed the Gehlen Catholic Lady Jays an 8-0 loss at A-W on Wednesday, June 5.
Behind the two-hit pitching of Kayla Tindall, A-W played fairly well. Tindall carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning before —- Pratt singled into right field. —- Wiltgen singled in the seventh as the Lady Jays threatened to avert the shutout. Lady Westerner Katie Johnson made a fine catch to end it.
Tindall gave up the two late hits as she was in control, also striking out 11 Lady Jays.
A-W scored four runs in the first on five hits. The Westerners plated two more in the second and two more in the fourth to make it 8-0. Kortney Hedlund, Bailey Davis and Jaclyn Smith all had two hits. A-W was also aided by six wild pitches.
We had chances to really cage the Lady Jays but A-W left nine runners stranded. A-W had great chances to score but twice the ball bounced off the pitcher, who turned it into a 1-6-3 play, pitcher to short to first.
A-W’s record now stands at 10-0.
