Morningside College track & field and cross country head coach Dave Nash announced the names of 16 men’s recruits who will join the Mustangs this fall.

Garrertt Wall, a 2013 graduate of Akron-Westfield Community School, will be one of the new Mustangs.

Wall had a season’s best time of 4:51.34 in the 1600-Meter Run and placed eighth in the 3200-Meter Run with a personal best time of 10:15.37 at the Class 1A state track & field meet this past season.

Wall had a career best time of 4:50.54 in the 1600-Meter Run and finished 10th in the 3200-Meter Run with a time of 10:27.75 at the Class 1A state meet during his junior campaign. He was a Class 1A state qualifier in the 3200-Meter Run as a sophomore.

Wall finished 35th with a time of 17:23 at the Class 1A state cross country meet as a senior.

“Their coach (Nash) was at the state meet and said that he would keep an eye out for Wall. It’s been a while since we’ve had a runner go on to college. Wall is a very hard worker and is very determined and focused. They have some different lengths of events in college but they run in three seasons,” said A-W track & field Coach Kent Johnson.

At Morningside Wall will join former rival Drew Schiltz, a 2013 graduate of Hinton High School, as a distance runner for the Mustangs.
